New Sounds

/ playlist series

New Sounds is a collection of playlists I have been curating for years. They are defined by their mood or feeling, rather than genre. I add new tracks all the time and they’re best enjoyed on shuffle.

Streets

Street’s moody midnight melodies are inspired by Melbourne’s streetscapes, quiet alleys and buzzing electronic scene. This my most listened-to playlist and hits different if you’re cycling up Canning Street after dark.

aperitif

Aperitif’s colourful, punchy house tracks will stimulate your appetite. This playlist is inspired by the house music that you wished played at bars that have sick views, but ser shit food and cookie-cutter decor.

Activation

Activation is known to be like WD-40 for the hips. These future disco tunes are packed with energy and funk. There are plenty of house classics in this one and it’s likely to go off on the dance floor, I’m telling you.

Terrain

Terrain feels like stepping barefoot onto a forest floor (I don’t know why this feels right). In this playlist, you’ll find plenty of international influences, wide soundstages and intricate layering of cool instruments.

Warehouse

Heart-stopping, fast-paced techno that will ring in your ears well after listening. Inspired after going to X.CLUB’s warehouse gig in 2021 and when I first got into this style of techno. If you run to this, you’re mental. Take your inhaler.

Lo-Fi

This one usually plays as I order my latte con leche de soya at my local cafe in Medellín. You’ll find its full of light jazzy tunes with little to no lyrics (Chilled Cow vibes) that perfectly score your workday.
